Weinstock Sworn in as Attorney

Last Thursday, Adam was officially sworn in to the Illinois Bar Association. There were 1700 lawyers being sworn in....luckily for us they didn't do it one at a time :) The ceremony was an actual session of the Illinois Supreme Court with the Chief Justice presiding. It felt very official. Just what Chicago needs....more lawyers! JK. Here are some pictures from the day. Adam's parents and his grandma were there to support (as always)!

Thanks for checking in!

Wedding Weekend in Miami

The weekend of October 11th had been circled on my calendar since May 5, 2007! It was the weekend of Becky & Vic's wedding in Miami. Becky has been one of my best friends since freshman year in the dorms. She lived next door and took a liking to us Manito girls :) She and Vic have dated since our senior year so this wedding was a long time in the making and was well worth the wait. We all had such a blast (despite some crazy humidity and occasional showers)! There is so much I could write about but I will let the pictures do the talking. You can see how beautiful everything was including the bride!! Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Palomino!

The rehearsal dinner was at Red Fish Grill
Nikki (Becky's sister), Becky, Mandy, Matt, and Jamie

Look at where the Red Fish Grill is...it was gorgeous!

The girls after the rehearsal enjoying some drinks.

Vic's Aunt held a Welcome Dinner at her house the night before the wedding (tent and all). They served a traditional Cuban meal.

These were the centerpieces on the tables at the Welcome Dinner. We got to take home the Mojito glasses as a momento :)

Group shot!

They even had people there hand rolling cigars. Zac, Matt, and Adam loved that part!

Here is the bride!

The bridesmaids flowers!

We hit the dance floor for lots of dancing, spilling, and sweating! Did I mention the humidity?

The bride passing out beers as we waited in the rain for cabs :) I love the back of her dress!!

That's all!

He Passed!!

Adam passed the Bar Exam!!! The results were posted yesterday. I guess he is not official yet until his swearing in ceremony, but now he can relax and continue getting familiar with going to work everyday. So far he is enjoying the work given to him, but maybe not as much as all the free lunches he's had :) It's great for him to be able to take the train and feel more green. I am extremely jealous.
Want to send a birthday shout-out to my little bro. He turned 17 yesterday! Happy Birthday, Ian!!!!

He actually cut his hair short recently...no more football helmet :)

Mind the Gap

Since Adam had the month of August off, we had planned on going on a vacation. I had the time off from work, but as August approached we never found the time to plan anything! I did have a trip to DC with my mom and Ian planned for a few days. With two days before I left for DC, Adam and I booked a trip to London! He met me in DC and we flew into Heathrow on a Saturday and came back on Wednesday, so it was a short but sweet vacation :) I have so many pictures but I will post some of my favs. The weather held out and even though it looks stormy in some we never had to use an umbrella. It was the first trip to Europe for both of us. London was a great city and by the time we left, it felt very comfortable. I was even getting the accent down. We rode the Underground (tube) a lot and so my brain is still repeating the recording "Please mind the gap between the train and the platform".
Prior to London, our days in Washington DC were lots of fun. We did some sightseeing and got in some good visiting time with Mr. Burns.

We were resting on the grass at Buckingham Palace

We had afternoon tea at Kensington Palace

We had to check out the All England Tennis Club (Wimbledon)

We spent plenty of time in Pubs so I have to include this one!

Engagement Photos

I was able to copy two photos from our engagement photos website (not sure how or if that was legal). Anyway, here is just a preview. If you want to see more, follow this link:

It is going to be hard to choose! They turned out really good and makes me even more excited for our wedding pictures.

Visitors from MN

Way back at the beginning of June, my friend Kim and her little boy Jacob stopped by Chicago for a visit on their way through. They were able to hang out at our place for awhile and play in the choo choo park (more importantly). Kim and Jacob spent the night at Mandy and Matt's place (pre-fire). Jacob was so good and just watched Thomas and read his cattle magazines while the girls gossiped and had some drinks. My friends, Jamie and Rachel were able to come by too so it was great to catch up. Here are some pics!

Party Time

Here are a few pictures from Adam's Graduation party (all the way back from June). We had really great weather and turnout. Thanks for all that were able to make it!

Pomp & Circumstance

This post is long overdue! Back in the middle of June, we had quite a full weekend of multiple graduation ceremonies down in Hyde Park. Adam graduated from both Law School and from Business School. On Friday (the 13th), the University convocation was held on the quad outside. The graduates were lead in by the U of C pipe band (bagpipes and drums). It was very unique and made the moment even more special. In this ceremony, Adam received his law diploma. After the ceremony ended, the law school held its own hooding ceremony in Rockefeller Chapel (see photo below). It is gorgeous! In the hooding ceremony he was hooded by a faculty member to signify receiving his Doctor of Law. We were able to get some nice photos afterward. Then on Sunday, there was the GSB ceremony. He received his MBA degree during this ceremony. We also had a few parties in between all the pomp and circumstance. Needless to say, we were exhausted by the end! It has been 4 long years, but Adam has walked away with two major accomplishments that I know he is proud of. We all are proud of him:) Now on to the bar exam.....

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

We've already been able to catch a baseball game on both the north and south sides. Go Sox! Thanks to Jamie and Zac for the Cubs tickets and Dr. David Lessman (congrats, Dave) for the Sox tickets.

Bittersweet Trip

We had an unexpected trip out East due to a dear family friend passing away. My grandparents became friends with Jim and Doris back in 1952 when they lived next door to each other in North Carolina. My grandpa and Jim were in the Marines. The four of them became instant friends and have continued that friendship for 56 years! Jim and Doris were like second parents to my mom and like grandparents to me. Many summer vacations were to Maryland to visit them and take in the sites of DC. Once they spent winters in Florida, we'd head down there over Spring Break for Disney and usually a nice relaxing week. Doris passed away on March 16th. A few days before, I was in Orlando for a work conference and was able to go to their house and visit for a few hours. I'm so grateful I was able to see her!
Adam and I decided to make the trip a long weekend. We were able to stay with our friends, Leah and Terry a few nights and spend an afternoon in DC. As you will see in the pictures, it was a gloomy day, but the cherry blossoms were blooming! It is gorgeous this time of year. We also did a drive from Northern Virginia into Maryland on our way to Frederick. I absolutely love it out there! There are old brick houses everywhere and I love the historic feel. My parents, sister, the kids, and my two uncles were able to make it out too. Doris was a sweet, classy lady that will be missed by all of my family!

For some reason, I had never been to the Capital!

Kiss Me, I'm Irish :)

I'm a holiday behind but I finally uploaded my pictures from St. Patty's Day / Mika's Birthday. As most of you know, Chicago goes to great lengths celebrating St. Patrick's Day with the green river and all. I guess that is why we feel the need (even at 28) to have keg parties to celebrate :) I met Mandy and Mika at McGee's to begin the day celebrating Mika's 23rd birthday. I'm not kidding when I tell you Mandy and Mika were in line (yes, a line) with a fresh cup of coffee. It was 9:00 AM.! Later we went to Matt's (mandy's boyfriend) who was hosting a party. It was a long day and I can't believe I didn't get a picture of my really cute green flats. I slipped on an orange shirt only during the Illini game but that is when the camera came out I guess. We're all a little Irish, right?
